The Hearse
I have an old hearse, based on a 1940 LaSalle Series 50 commercial chassis, with coachwork by Superior.
I've always wanted to have a hearse, just for the weirdness factor. This car is in a rough
state, but it's an amazing machine. Only several thousand more hours to work to get it back together!
This page will be updates with galleries, pictures, etc.
For now, here's a link to a bunch of pictures:

There are a lot of things that I'd like to change on this vehicle to make it a perfectly driveable car on modern roads. Here's a list of features that are planned or in concept.
- Original engine, flathead, bored out to Cadillac spec, 346 c.i.
- Rewire to 12v, negative ground system
- Electric fuel booster pump to prevent vapor locking
- Bypass shutter thermostat for inline modern thermowax type thermostate
- Front & rear disc brake conversion
- Front & rear tapered roller bearing conversion
- Addition of a catalytic converter, for smell and emissions
- Change rear axle ratio for lower rpm freeway cruise
- Switch Delco-Remy generator to an alternator
- Add air conditioning (long term)
I need to learn as much auto body work (stripping, sheet metal, painting, etc) as possible, so if you're in northern California, and want to show me a few tricks, or direct me to a good class, please get in touch with me.
